Multicoloured

Wearing from left to right
Barry M in Bright Purple
No7 Stay Perfect in Pink Grapefruit
Barry M in Cyan Blue
Nails Inc in Piccadilly Circus
Nails Inc in Belgrave Place
Barry M Instant Nails Effects in Black

Bright multicoloured nails provide a good distraction from revision. I was late to the crackle party (as with everything) but I like the way it pulls all these different colours into one theme. Comparing the effect over different colours I think I like it best over the blue and dark pink on the middle and ring finger. One thing I have noticed is that if you apply the crackle polish over a thin base coat of colour it tends to crack the polish underneath too. I don't know if the same thing happens with other brands but if you are using the Barry M one make sure you have a thick base to work with before applying it.

Nails Inc

Gosh I haven't updated in a while. Must be my hectic social life, I wish! Anyway, I have found a solution to my problems with nail varnish! A while back I got a free nails inc varnish with Glamour magazine (it was actually featured on a money saving site as you got a full size nail polish worth £10.50 for a £2 magazine. It was suggested as a good stocking filler, but I decided to keep it for myself). A few days ago I decided to try it out. The picture below is of my nails with just one coat of varnish after 2 days wear.

Colour - Piccadilly Circus
Admittedly my love of really hot baths did result in some chipping, but as the colour goes on so well I was able to just wack on another coat without redoing the whole nail. I was so impressed that I placed an order on their website. They are a little pricey at £10.50 a bottle, but they do deals if you buy three or more colours and they have a sale on and I sneakily used a discount code I found on the net. Anyway these babies cost me £27.99 and arrived in the post today. I can't wait to try them all out. Although it was pointed out to me today that the green perfectly matches my Center Parcs uniform. Not quite the look I was going for.

Sorry if this just sounds like an advert for nails inc. They are not paying me, promise!

New Year's Outfit

I didn't end up taking a picture of it in the end because it turned out to be something of a last minute decision. You know when you picture that perfect outfit in your head but when you put it on it's just al wrong? Well thats what happened to me. I was going to wear the dark green dress I sewed a while back with a waist belt, black tights, and my fake fur coat. I was aiming for understated glamour, but somehow the dress, wasit belt combo just wasn't working. In the end I wore this black dress...

(sorry for the photo it's cropped from one I stole from facebook)
...With the black tights, fake fur coat, black nail polish and some really dark berry red lipstick I purchased that day. My mother thought I didn't have on enough eye makeup to balance the lips but I'd always learnt that you made up lips OR eyes not both. I think I did the right thing ignoring her advice. I seem to have developed a penchant recently for things I can't keep on more than 5 minutes. The minute my lipstick feels dry or I eat or drink anything I find myself wiping the back of my hand across my mouth and if I don't smudge or chip it in the first 10 minutes I will certainly have chewed all my nail varnish off by the end of the night. Eating all those chemicals can't be doing me any good!

The Weekend

My brief fling with nail polish is over. The damn stuff always chips no matter what I do and ends up looking shit.

Spent the weekend catching up with people from uni. Wore the following outfit…

Yep I really love that jacket. Swapped the black and white top for a red vest on the Sunday and ended up feeling a little inappropriately dressed for the Costa coffee and subway we had on Sunday morning.

N.B. 08/10/09 I hope I have learnt something from this outfit. NEVER mix a short skirt with black leather boots and a red handbag. NOT a good look.

Red Nails

I don't often wear nail polish because I can't keep it on for more than a few hours. If I don't smudge it while its still wet I will have chewed half of it off by the end of the night and I can't believe ingesting all those chemicals is doing my digestive system any good. Nevertheless there is nothing quite like surveying new polished hands and feet to make you feel well... polished. Shame one little chip can spoil the whole effect. I think I might need to get back into nail polish, last time I bought a load I was about 13, purchsed a number of bright colours, pink, purple, blue etc. and painted each nail a different colour. I think it's time for something a little more mature. My current favourites of the colours I own are black, a bright red and a nude pink colour. I fancy a deep burgundy next. Just got to resist the urge to bite it off!
