With the fifth series of skins out in the uk and the american version causing controversy I thought I would share a few thoughts about the program. Here are my predictions for the third generation cast. One of them will be killed off at the end of the sixth series. One will suffer mental health problems. One or more will have a sexual relationship with at least two other members of the cast. They will take alot of drugs. I enjoy the show but is it an accurate portrayal of the life of the average british teenager? No, I don't think so.
Compare skins to another program about british teenagers in their sixth form years. The Inbetweeners. Another brilliant but totally different program that far more accurately portrays my teenage experience. Always somewhere in the middle, not cool but not a total loser either. All my attempts to live the cool teenage life I thought I should be living generally ending in disappointment. Getting drunk at the end of year ball, throwing up and generally embarrassing myself.
What was/is your teenage experience more comparable to?

I've never heard of the Inbetweeners but it sounds great! I actually LOVE skins though...although I guess as someone from the UK you'd know British youth culture better than me! -- that's totally what we think it's really like across the pond, at least for a small portion of the generation! But obviously I know it's an over-dramatized TV show.
