Major lack of posts, I know! Here's why; only just got the internet connected where I'm staying, and then the wireless on my computer decided to break meaning the only way I can access the internet is pearched in the hallway with the computer directly attached to the router, oh and the phone is now buzzing really badly despite me using a splitter on the line; I have a horrendous amount of work to do for the professional qualification I'm doing for my new job, and if I fail I get sacked; I've bought nothing recently except boring office wear. Honestly have no idea when or if normal posting will return.

Crazy Times
Okay, so remember last month when I lost my shiny new graduate job before it even started. I just got another one and it starts on Monday! I have so much to do! Sadly what this means for you is that blogging and sewing etc are once again on the back burner. I feel like I haven't made anything for ages and I'm seriously missing creating things. I'm planning to pick a couple of simple projects to take with me to get started on once I settle into the routine of my new job.

Hi Guys
I just want to say hi to my new followers, hi! I have 50 now, unbelievable! I'm so glad that you guys like my writing, style, jewellery, sewing, whatever it was that brought you here. I also want to apologise for going AWOL for the last week. I've been on holiday in Ibiza, no, not hard core clubbing, my friends and I visited churches and enjoyed family entertainment shows in a nearby hotel instead. We are just beyond cool! I'm also off to work for Oxfam at Reading festival tomorrow and I'm not organised enough to schedule posts so there will be nothing from me for a while longer. I also have bad news. That job I was so excited to be starting, the new area I was moving to. It's not happening. Just a month before I was due to start my graduate job the government announced it was abolishing the body I was going to be working for. My first class degree is starting to feel a lot less valuable than it used to. On the plus side I will now have a load of free time to work through my sewing stash in between job applications. Right now, got to go I have to unpack, pack again and write a sarcastic letter to a government minister.

Work Wardrobe
With the new job and all I am going to be requiring a whole load more work clothes *secretly delights in the excuse to go shopping*. The question is whether I am brave/capable enough to make any of these clothes myself? It's all well and good wearing the dress you made with the wonky hem where the interfacing shows at the arm holes down the pub or at family gatherings. It's not perfect but it's wearable. The professional workplace however requires an all together more finished garment. I reckon that I can create a shift dress or two if I lengthen the hem of my current pattern a little and make sure to do everything properly. I'll probably need to line them too as I'm always having issues with my home made clothes catching on my tights and riding up. Need to stock up on 'work coloured' fabrics; navys, blacks and greys. *secretly delights in the excuse to go fabric shopping*

Week Four Refashions
Other than the shoes I posted earlier in the week there are none :(
I was struck down by a flu type virus mid week and then progress on the job search front, i.e. I got one, meant that I've spent the rest of the week reading contracts and independence policies. I do have a number of small unfinished projects languishing in a heap in my room which I hope to finish next week. The good news is that once I'm done with all this paperwork the job doesn't start until September so I should have loads of free time for sewing and crafting, and, oh yeah, relocating. I am flying the nest! My new job won't be taking me too far away. In fact the mothership is calling me home yet again. I shall be returning to Essex. Birth place, family seat, university county and Global Xchange location. I shall never escape.

MySpace Archive - Work, Work, Work
Thats all I seem to be doing at the moment. Writing notes, starting essays, being an RSN, going to the gym in case I decide to be a police officer, researching jobs in case I don't. I can't fit everything in not unless I give up sleeping which is not a particularly attractive option to me. I have other concerns to but I simply haven't got the time or energy to get invovled. I shall let them run their course it's probably better than way anyway. Well that was rather cryptic.
Mind you saying all that I seem to have found time to go on the internet... funny that.

MySpace Archive - Thinking About Jobs
It has become increasingly clear to me that I won't be able to walk out of uni and straight into a good job as I had believed. I think sixth forms must get paid or something for sending a large number of students to uni, because they certainly didn't show us the worrying statistics that students studying some subjects would earn more across their life times on average if they had left school at 16. Of course none of this takes into account the amazing life experience that university is, one I put much personal value upon. It's not for everyone but I feel very at home at university, saying I've 'found myself' is the only way I can describe it. Not saying that some times at uni haven't been tough, frantically doing two essays in one night is a time that comes to mind. But I really do with feel more comfortable and confident in myself.
Anyway back to the original point... getting a job. It's not going to be easy. I've been perhaps naively assuming that I'll be able to walk straight out of uni and into a career with the police if I run out of other options, but they might not want me, I might not pass the fitness or more importantly eyesight tests. A first class degree would certainly set me apart, and getting one is not impossible. However for the first time in my life I would have to work very hard to get a top grade (sorry if that sounds big headed). As silly as it might sound I don't want to do my best sacfricing other things I'd rather be doing, only to miss that top grade. On the other hand if I don't do my best, I will always wonder what might have been if Id only tried a little harder. I foresee that next year is going to be one big long compromise. A very good timetable is in order I think, I need to stick to it too, something I've never managed before!
